More Before & Afters

Just a couple of more pikkies. This used to be Mike's bedroom as a kid on the top floor:

Now it looks like this and will become my painting studio with big sliding doors so we can open this room up to extend the dining area:

The boys also demolished part of this wall today to make room for a huge glass wall which enables us to look down the stairwell area and brings more light into what will be the lounge area later on:

We also had a part of the yard asphalted - yahoo no more dust:

Don't worry Mum and Dad - Mike has even made a bet with me that in 6 weeks we will be moving in. I determine whether we move in or not as I said to him I am only moving when everything is done or it will never get finished - as we all know. Wait and see !! There is a dinner and a casino visit for whoever wins. I won't mind paying at all when I lose as it will mean we are able to move in ...

Heatwave and Demolition City !!

Ok just 3 days after I posted the last mail regarding the snow, the heatwave arrived and is still here. We had snow on the 11th and on the 14th it was 36 degrees ! Wow ! It's been like that since then and Charly and I have spent every day at the outdoor pool in a nearby village escaping the heat and even experiencing goosebumps - a miracle when it's so hot.

Also the building site is in full swing. Our original plan was to do up the bathroom in the new/old place and then a few touch ups here and there and then move in - well it's all gone custard and we have changed tack completely. We are now ripping out all the walls and false ceilings in the top storey of the house and are going to make it into one big room which will eventually become the lounge, kitchen and dining area (approx. 70 sqm). In time we will change the downstairs area into two large bedrooms, bathroom and laundry. For the moment the top storey will be our bedroom and downstairs has the lounge, kitchen and Charly's room. Here are some before and afters of the top storey. This was my painting room before:

And this is what the area looks like now:

What used to be the walk in wardrobe with a spiral staircase:

is now this:

So you can see it's all fun and games at the moment.

Hope all of you are well and happy and are enjoying checking in on the site every now and then. Love us 3 xxxooo

Snow !!!

Oh my god !!!

It's July and there is snow on the tops of the mountains - just a dusting but it's still there. No wonder people's circulation is going all up the wonks with this weather and Charly is really feeling it. As a baby we would know when a thunderstorm is coming about 2 hours before it cause she started getting ratty. She is still like that now. Cold and heaps of rain as well. This weekend will be the killer as they are predicting 40 degrees celcius on Sunday - man oh man ! Talk about season being all mixed up.

Harley Davidson Festival

Today we had the Harley Davidson Festival in town. Amazingly the sun came out and stayed all day and the evening was great too. 6 live bands in the inner walled town area and heaps of great bikes and some interesting people. Charly decided she had to get an airbrush tattoo of a witch on her back so here she is chosing her witch on the broom:

Ready to spray:

The tattoo !!

Charly took this photo of us (Me, Opa, Mike & Ulli):

Forgot to take some photos of the actual Harley Davidson bikes but hey !

It's Sunday afternoon now and about an hour ago we were swimming in the pool, the sun was shining and it was stinking hot. Now it's raining cats and dogs with huge thunder and lighting strikes. The road is a river and the drainpipes are overflowing all over the place - that's the mountains for you. Reminds me of Dunedin sometimes with the "4 seasons in one day" thingie.

Hope all of you are well. Love us 3 xxxooo
