Silver Medal Winner - Ski School Race

Hello All

Today Charly had her first ski school race and she won a silver medal for second place. She managed the 100m slalom in about 24 secs. Her best friend did it in 42 secs. The winner was a 5 1/2 year old with 22 secs so well done Charly!!! I made a video of the race hence no photos of her actually doing it but here is the course and the happy racer at the end in her special vest. She can handle the t-bar no problems now as well.

Also some photos of the prizegiving where Bobo the penguin arrived and madam had to show him her Bobo ski socks.

Xmas Gymnastics Show

Hello all

At the weekend we had the Annual Xmas Gymnastics Christmas Show at the Sportpark here in Kitzbühel. Charly took part in the Kindergarten section with her teacher Rosi and all the other kids and she did really well. They had a great time and she even got her photo in the paper ! They were busy running around with steering wheels in their hands like racing cars - cute !

Here are some photos:

In case you can't see her she is the one with the little plaits in the middle of the first picture. Pink camo pants with a green short sleeved Sponge Bob t-shirt. This was the photo that was in the local paper. Sprinting along ! You can't really see her in the other photos though.

Final Photos

Hey People

Here are just a few photos of the finished house. I still have to shoot some more but these are a few arty farty ones as well as the normal room shots. Hope you like the look of it all.

We are really enjoying all the room - 170 sqm. The old place was 50 sqm so a big difference. You can see the architect's (Mike) style coming out all over the place with the mix of old and new and we love it.

Just to explain - the upper floor with the couch and our bed will in future be the lounge/kitchen/dining area but we will be doing that in a few years time. My painting room is also up here. In the meantime we are cooking and eating downstairs and this will become two bedrooms and two bathrooms in a few years. Charly is going to get what is now the play corner, living and dining area as her room as we have enough space upstairs for us two and we will move into her old bedroom. The main thing was to do all the new walls, wiring, heating and plumbing first - the nasty stuff.

Charly enjoys having her play corner and room to really run around.

Hoping all of you are fit and well. Drop by and leave a comment if you want.

My Painting and the Ice Rink

Hey Mum and Dad

Just a quick pikkie of the ice rink which is finished. It has turned really cold with minus 5 etc. and this is the earliest we have had the ice rink ever ! Here is Charly ready to have a go.

Also my painting on the wall in the dining area. Looks cool huh !

Glad to hear you are back home safe and well and don't forget to take it easy and relax a bit for a while.

Love and kisses - Lara, Mike & Charly xxxooo

PS Charly gets an Oma & Opa hug and kiss each day.

General Catch Up

Hello All,

Just a few photos of the fantastic dumping of snow we had. It snowed for four days from the time Karl arived and then we had this beautiful day. We made the most of it and went up the mountain to check it all out.

Dad was feeling pretty good. He has since had his medication changed and is feeling chirpy again - getting cheeky so that's good. For those of you who don't know - Dad had a heart attack while he was visiting us so all drama again but we are all cool now. Karl (bro) came over for a visit for 10 days as well which was really great.

This is up the Hahnenkamm mountain behind our house and is about 1600m or so. The snow disappeared a few days later and the frosts have arrived which is fine. Very crisp in the mornings.

We also had Halloween the other night and Charly was dressed accordingly of course and had a great time in the morning cutting out faces in the pumpkins with me. Then we went out at night wither her costume and broom and visited her best friend Elisa.

We have moved into the new house and things are great. So much space it's just amazing. Karl was the first guest in the new guest room so who wants to be second ?

Pictures of the new house to follow as soon as the furniture gets delivered.

That's all for now. Just wanted to update you all and post a few photos of Dad so you can all see he is up and about and feeling good. Taking it very easy though which is important - anyway he is on holiday.

Sadie the Cleaning Lady, Bob the Builder and the Thanksgiving Princess !

Hey All,

Just a couple of pikkies from the building site.

Here is Sadie the Cleaning Lady making a wonderful job of cleaning our kitchen. It looks fantastic and I wouldn't have done it near as perfect. Ta Mum !!!

And Bob the Builder was in the basement making some great shelves. Thanks Pops !!!

Then we have the Thanksgiving Princess with her litle basket and crown she made at Kindergarten:

And this is the pink wall in Charly's bedroom - we promised her and she didn't forget so it was paytime for Mama and Papa - it's bad but she loves it.

The guest room is nearly finished with just a few goodies to be put in the bathroom. We are just waiting on the heating radiators, the floors to be oiled and two lamps and then we can move in. Yahoo !!

Bye for now - Lara, Mike & Charly xxxooo

Cleaning & Ordering Furniture

Hey People

Seems like we are getting there ! I am cleaning the top floor this weekend and hope to get a bit of the first floor done as well. I have a cleaning lady helping me who is a real dream so it should go pretty good.

We have also been ordering some furniture and here are some pikkies. All pretty funky - have an architect for a boyfriend - but I like it too. The italians are taking their time as usual and it will take at least 6 weeks before things arrive but hey ! I can wait.

Here is the couch (same colour) we have ordered for the chill out area uptairs in front of the TV - it's called Arketipo Box:

with little footrests to match but in a darker shade the same as the couch - Arketipo Cubo:

These are the chairs for the dining table - Panton:

These are for the wine and open fire area - Victoria & Albert:

Mum and Dad are having a good time here. Dad is spending most of the time on the building site doing all sorts of useful jobs whch is a great help to all and he seems to be loving it. Last night he was oiling the ceiling beams and singing away to himself. Much better than the last holiday where he was in hospital.

Hope all of you are well.

Love and kisses - Lara, Mike & Charly xxxooo

Salzburg Day Trip

Hello

Spent the day in Salzburg today with Mum and Dad and Charly. Had a wander around the old pedestrian area and checked out Mozarts birth house. Had a nice coffee and then lunch up on the hill behind the town.

Stumbled upon a good day as there was a town fair in the centre and there were heaps of rides for kids and so Charly made the most of the afternoon. Hence, we missed the castle but will just have to do another day there to check out the castle.

Just some photos to look at.

Progress Update

Hey All,

Just a few more photos of the building site. It's getting there slowly. The floors are in everywhere except for the guestroom. Here is part of the top floor:

This is the first floor living area:

The painter/plasterer still has a heap to do and the guestroom is coming along fine. I have been promised that it will be finished for the 23rd of October when Karl comes to visit us - yahoo !! Yes you read correctly - my bro Karl will be here at the same time as Mum and Dad - wow - last time that happened was Xmas 2005 in NZ. This is how your room is looking at the moment Karl.

The rest of the traditional windows are coming tomorrow and it will take a few days before they are in properly. We chose these windows to suit the style of the outside of our house which was built in 1842 - it's a bit old you see. So putting modern windows in would have completely killed the look of the place. It's going to be a love/hate relationship with these babies from day one though unfortunately. They look fantastic but each window has 24 panes of glass - understand what I am saying ?

The kitchen is finished and it's green - not just normal green but GREEN - just something funky for the next 3 or 4 years until we rip it out and chuck it away and turn the kitchen into a seperate bathroom for Charly and the real kitchen moves upstairs. We basically have given it an el-cheapo makeover to make it look a bit cleaner and brighter.

Dad is helping lots as you can see and Charly is just hanging around in her tutu !!

That's all for now folks. Lara, Mike & Charly xxxooo
