I know, I know - photos !!! Here they are.
We all had a fantastic time in Thailand and a very relaxing one too !
The holiday started off well with our van breaking down on the way to Munich - ha ha ! I found it funny but of course Mike didn't. I was just sooo pleased that we had to leave so early to bring Amelie back to Munich that it didn't matter having to hang around Irschenberg organising the van to be repaired and getting a rental car to take us to the airport.
The 10 hour flight was great in that we had no choice but to start relaxing !!! Not sure if I would fly with Thai Airways again - we were sitting way too close to the big screen and to the side of it so we couldn't see the in-flight entertainment and there were no little screens in the back of the seats - a major minus point for me. For Charly too although we had her portable DVD player with us.
The weather was fantastic for the whole two weeks. 36 degrees and sunshine - hot, hot, hot. We covered ourselves in 50 sunblock on the first day and did it 3x and still got burnt ! Ended up having a lunch break in the hotel room from 12-2.30pm which kept us out of the worst of the sun. Charly spent all day and every day in the water which was why the break was good. She met a little girl the same age called Juli and they had a great time together. We also had fun going to dinner and drinks with her parents !
It rained one day and that was only till 2pm or so. We had a rental car one day to travel around the island. Had to other day trips as well - elephant trekking and dolphin watching and snorkeling !
We all got a lovely tan even though we covered ourselves in block from head to toe - actually look healthy now after 6 months of winter and no sun - no more pasty things !
The hotel building was a bit older but very clean and lovely big rooms. Great restaurants in the hotel and close by and the facilities at the hotel were fantastic. It was 4 1/2 stars so it should have been. The pool was a saltwater pool right in front of the beach and the beach was gorgeous too !
All in all a well worth it trip and just at the right time for Mike.

Fantastic restaurant with a great name and great food - decor left a bit to be desired but who cares - it's Thailand !
